F is for French Quarter

022_004In the spirit of the posts detailing the world of The House of Crimson and Clover, I wanted to share some of my personal pictures from the French Quarter. The French Quarter, or Vieux Carré (or just “The Quarter” to locals) is an important setting in the series, from the Hotel Monteleone, to the French Market, to Preservation Hall and Lafitte’s.

The Quarter is the oldest, and most diverse, area of the city, with influences from Spanish, French, Creole, and American cultures throughout. From cast iron balconies, to floral courtyards, jazz music and jazz funerals, Caribbean flare and unique food, you feel like you’ve been transported to another place, and perhaps another time.

    1. You should go! It is definitely a very budget-friendly destination…and you’ll love everything so much that you’ll insist on walking everywhere, saving yourself even more money 🙂
